Welcome to Work and Organisational Psychology at UniSA Online. My name is Stephanie Centofanti and I am an Online Course Facilitator for the Bachelor of Psychological Science and Sociology degree. I will be your primary teaching contact for this course along with the tutoring team, who you can contact by using the tabs above or through the course forums. You should also use the Course Outline as a primary reference for all academic queries.
This course provides an introduction to the area of organisational psychology through the consideration of broad questions on fundamental workplace issues. Some of the questions we will examine in this course include:
- What is globalisation and what are its effects at work?
- What are the multilevel influences on health and well-being at work?
- What determines levels of motivation and performance at work?
- How is psychological assessment used within the workplace?
- What is bullying and how can it be prevented?
- How can organisations change?
This course has been designed so that you learn through activity and application. As well as watching the online video presentations, you will be involved in problem solving activities, projects and group discussions, to develop a deep understanding of the world of work. Your active participation is required to attain the best results – both for yourself and for the whole class. We look forward to working with you throughout this online course as we discover the field of organisational psychology.
Specifically, you will learn how to:
- Evaluate significant theoretical ideas in the area of work and organisational psychology
- Analyse a number of fundamental practical issues in the area of work and organisational psychology
- Demonstrate advanced knowledge of fundamental research methodologies used in empirical research within the area of work and organisational psychology
- Apply relevant psychological research and theory when solving work and organisational psychology problems
- Evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of workplace interventions based on the principles of work and organisational psychology
