- Form a response to the following:
- What are the similarities and differences between an idea, invention and innovation?
- What qualities make a business innovation worth pursuing?
- What is a competitive advantage and how it be supported by innovation?
- How does the pursuit of competitive advantage support decision making around what ideas are worth pursuing?
- What aspects of an innovation ensure that the competitive advantage is sustainable?
- Select one of the case studies that you will use throughout Week 1 for learning activities. Access relevant materials that describe the level and type of innovation for your chosen organisation:
- Case study 1.1: Social Entrepreneurship
- Case study 1.2: Technology Innovation and Commercialisation
- Case study 1.3: Corporate Entrepreneurship
- Case study 1.4: Family Business
- Analyse the level and type of innovation leveraged by your chosen organisation, and summarise the results of your analysis.
- Can you identify other alternative uses (or applications) of this innovation?
- Post your response to the Learning Task 1.1 Forum.
- After posting, read the responses from your peers.
- Comment on at least one post that supported your understanding of competitive advantage.
- Be sure to reply to any comments and/or questions on your postings.
- The course teaching team will be facilitating discussions during the week and will summarise the key ideas after everyone has had a chance to respond.
