Welcome
Hello, and welcome to Introduction to Broadcasting! In this course you will develop theoretical knowledge as well as practical, transferable skills for use in scriptwriting, audio and video production and editing, and an understanding of commercial, public and community broadcasting industries.
Students develop news gathering, writing and broadcast skills through the process of generating broadcast story ideas, conducting interviews, recording voice overs and vision, and using software to edit and compile audio and video news stories.
Students learn to work in both mediums, developing transferable skills for use in a range of sound and visual platforms, and gain an understanding of the legal and ethical obligations of broadcast journalism.
You'll create a range of radio and video news stories over the next ten weeks.
Please take the time to familiarise yourself with the course and assessments before you start. As a student in this course, you have access to Adobe Creative Cloud, including Premiere Pro to edit your video news stories. You will also want to have Audacity which is a fantastic open-source audio recording and editing software. Please download these programs before we start.
